P & L Livestock offer friendly and professional services in Livestock Markets, Private Sales, Dairy Sales, Export Sales, Abbatoir Sales, Auctions & Clearing Sales.
Fat sales are conducted every Wednesday, commencing with cattle at 9am and sheep and lambs at approximately 12 noon. Bookings for stock are required by 3.30pm on the Monday preceding the sale. Store Sales are generally conducted on the second Friday of every month commencing at 11am (SA Time).
Starting from July 2009 electronic recording of sheep and lamb movements through the saleyards will begin, with information being recorded on a central database. The changes in the NLIS-Sheep will see agents and saleyard operators required to enter important information from NVDs into a central database. Therefore it is essential that all Sheep & Lamb NVDs are completed accurately, with a Sheep Health Statement attached, and handed into P & L’s saleyard office by no later than 12pm on day of sale.
Remember: When you purchase sheep and goats you must get an NVD and you must keep it for seven years. PIC information on stored NVDs can be used to complete the new NVD. All PIC numbers present on eartags within the consignment must be listed on the NVD.
The mob based database will enable the properties involved in sheep sales to be identified quickly in the event of a food safety scare or an emergency disease, such as Ovine Johne’s. The control of Ovine Johne’s Disease in South Australia is the responsibility of all sectors of the sheep industry.
